Since September 1 David M. Shaffer is the new president of the Battery Council International (BCI) Board as his predecessor Joseph A. Walicki retired on August 31.
Shaffer has been the Director, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EnerSys, a manufacturer and distributor of backup and traction batteries, battery chargers, power equipment, battery accessories and outdoor enclosure solutions, since 2016. In taking up his new role for the BCI, Shaffer reaffirmed the important role of energy storage in the global decarbonization effort. He looks forward to continuing to guide the members of the BCI through an ever-changing technology and regulatory landscape in his new position as President.
Kevin Moran, BCI executive vice president commented: "We are excited to welcome Dave into his new role as BCI's president and we are eager to see where his leadership will take us, as the organization is poised to enter a new strategic planning phase. On behalf of BCI, I'd like to extend my gratitude to Joe for his many contributions and service to BCI. We wish him years of happiness in his retirement."
