The two companies have partnered to develop a full electric ART, illustrating the commitment to reduce carbon emissions.
The prototype will work at the Toulouse industrial site of Airbus and will be capable of towing two fuel tankers. With Total subsidiary Saft providing the lithium-ion batteries, the ART is expected at the end of this year. The batteries will also be developed and manufactured in France, at Saft’s facilities in Nersac and Bordeaux, enabling short delivery routes.
Total wants to become carbon neutral by 2050 for all activities, opening new perspectives on the development of innovative vehicles such as the ART. The joint development project also enables the transport and logistics focused engineering company Gaussin to expand its electric vehicles market.
