Nano One Materials Corp is a Canadian company that develops technologies for the production of lithium ion battery cathode materials as used in electric vehicles and energy storage solutions. Their developments in production processes decreases costs, simplifies production and advances performance for NMC (lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxides) and LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cathode technologies. To demonstrate the advancements, Nano One launched a pilot project in July 2016.
March 2019, The Demonstration Pilot Project was successfully completed and rewarded with further payments by Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), totaling more than 1 million US$. SDTC also approved Nano Ones’ new Scaling Advanced Battery Materials project for a further 5million US$ to be awarded for each of the four project phases after successful completion.
“The goals are to expand our laboratory, pilot plant and staffing to support the advancement of next generation lithium ion battery cathode materials, used in electric vehicles and renewable energy storage.” says CEO Dan Blondal. The funds will support several initiatives with global partners such as Volkswagen, Pulead Technology and Saint-Gobain to further develop low-cost, efficient and high-performing battery materials.
