Secretary of Energy Mark W. Menezes has announced that, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), 43 new projects will support research into advanced vehicle technologies with a $59 million grant.
The new projects will be funded by the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and will focus on the development of advanced battery technologies, e-mobility and other sustainable energy inventions. With this investment, the DOE states that the main aim is to improve the living conditions of Americans in terms of safety, flexibility and affordability. Secretary Menezes commented: “Vehicles drive our national economy. At DOE, we support a broad portfolio of technologies, generating the knowledge needed for industry to further develop and commercialize affordable, secure, and reliable transportation systems.”
