ENGIE to Take Over Mobisol

With the acquisition of Mobisol, a provider of off-grid solar solutions in Africa, ENGIE will secure a leading role in the continent's energy market as soon as the last approvals have been obtained from the relevant regulatory authorities. Mobisol has installed more than 150,000 solar home systems that provide clean and reliable energy to over 750,000 people in Africa. The company operates in Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya.

To date, ENGIE and its subsidiary Fenix International have provided access to energy and financial services for more than 500,000 customers in Uganda, Zambia, Nigeria, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire and Mozambique through their solar home systems. In addition, ENGIE PowerCorner specializes in intelligent mini-grids powered by solar energy and battery storage that supply electricity to households, local businesses and public institutions in the villages of Tanzania and Zambia. These services are enabled by digital financial solutions such as Mobile Money and Pay As You Go technologies. With the addition of Mobisol's products and customer base, ENGIE will now reach nine African countries and provide a wide coverage in both urban and rural areas.
