ADS-TEC Energy GmbH is a company of ADS-TEC group with a participation of BOSCH. ees International: Thank you very much for this interview and congratulations on being a finalist for the ees AWARD! The Mobile High Power Charger (MHPC) is a temporary, movable high-speed EV charging station, particularly suitable for events or short-term expansion of charging capacities at any given location. How does the system work and what technology does it hold?
The Mobile High Power Charger is the world’s most powerful mobile fast charging system in the form of a truck trailer. Ten e-vehicles can charge up to 320 kilowatts each in a few minutes at the two megawatt-hour HPC charging trucks at the same time and several times in a row even without grid connection. Every single trucktruck has a total capacity of 3.2 megawatts when all charging points are charging simultaneously at full power. Considering the availability of grid connections, which are often only limited, it is a unique opportunity to provide high charging capacities for a limited period of time and in a flexible location – even without any grid connection. The MHPC is therefore unique in its performance in terms of compactness and design (truck trailer, mobile and transportable).

ees International: How can the batteries in the semi-trailer itself be recharged?
The MHPC can be recharged at normal grid connections in the low voltage grid. Considering the fact that usually only very low power grid connections are available on site (with for example only 50 kW), the power output per trailer is enormous.
In addition, the MHPC can even be used without mains connection thanks to an island function.EV charging: At limited power grid for optimal charging infrastructure. CCS2 plug: Integrated access points from plug type CCS2 enable high charging capacities up to 320 kW.
ees International: As an event organizer, how can I book an MHPC trailer?
The MHPC can only be booked about partner companies and customers as for example JOLT.

ees International: The energy storage sector is highly innovative and EV batteries are increasingly more powerful. Is the MHPC adaptable to also meet future charging capacity needs?
It is the world's leading system in terms of number of charging points, capacity and charging power.
With a charging capacity of up to 320 kW per charging point and a voltage range of 150-920 volts, the system already meets future requirements today and goes far beyond the current demand for power. All e-vehicles with the exception of the Porsche Taycan are limited to half or less - for comparison: an Audi e-tron can be charged with up to 150 kW.
ees International: The number of EVs is increasing and research shows that societies across the globe are widely highly supportive of electric mobility. However, range and charging infrastructure are still a concern. Could the MHPC bridge the lack of charging infrastructures and keep the EV-momentum high?
In any case yes, because the MHPC fills a crucial gap. It can be observed that the filling station increasingly comes to the vehicle and not necessarily the vehicle to the filling station. This is clearly illustrated by the growing number of charging points in the private sector or, for example, at supermarkets, companies and public car parks.
Charging trucks enable even larger fleets of vehicles to be charged in a short time, even at limited - or non-existent - grid connections. If a rapidly growing field of electric vehicles appears in the coming years, then mobile rapid charging services will also become increasingly necessary on a temporary basis. After all, it is not always sensible or economical to create and permanently operate grid connections to the required extent.
The compact and flexible concept also enables rapid assembly and dismantling directly at the place of use - throughout Europe. It has been tested under extreme temperatures, whether in the far north or south.
This results in a wide range of applications: Driving events of e-vehicles, marketing or press events, as a temporary charging station on highly frequented travel routes or as a charging option at events such as festivals and trade fairs.
ees International: What are the next steps for ADS-TEC and the MHPC?
ADS-TEC Energy continues to deal with future topics in the field of high performance charging in connection with battery storage, in order to be able to charge quickly even where there is no or too little mains power available. This will enable unrestricted mobility to be maintained even in the E age.
The product is brand new - now it is a matter of finding new customers and projects and, if necessary, implementing derivatives of other designs. Many potential customer discussions are taking place for this purpose.
